Saxophone course
Sound, technique and improvisation on alto and tenor sax: jazz, pop, soul.
The course
The saxophone course works on sound first of all: breathing, embouchure, tone production. Then technique, reading and a repertoire spanning jazz, soul, pop and funk, all the way to improvisation.
Who it is for
For complete beginners (recommended from age 9-10) and saxophonists who want to deepen phrasing and improvisation.
What you will learn
- Breathing, embouchure and sound
- Technique and fingerings
- Reading and phrasing
- Introduction to improvisation
- Jazz, soul and pop repertoire
How it works
One-to-one lessons of 45 or 60 minutes, once a week. The programme is personalised: each lesson alternates technique, applied theory and repertoire chosen together. During the year students can take part in ensemble workshops, the end-of-year recital and sessions in the school's recording studio.
