Ivan Melara
Ivan Melara was born in 1999 in Reggio Calabria. Passionate about music from an early age, he took up the saxophone and, after a mainly classical training, graduated in saxophone from the "F. Cilea" Conservatory in Reggio Calabria. After moving to Milan he became part of the local jazz and pop scene, where he works as a session player for several emerging bands.
He is currently studying jazz saxophone at the "G. Verdi" Conservatory in Milan with Maestro Tino Tracanna.
Lead alto sax of the VJO, he has taken part in productions with international guests including Elliot Mason, Paul Wertico, David Blamires, Emanuele Cisi, Andrea Andreoli, Antonio Faraò, Michael Dease, Giovanni Falzone, Alex Usai, Christian Mascetta, Pino Jodice and Paolo Silvestri. He has collaborated with the ONJ, performing with them at Expo 2025 in Japan, and took part in the recording of the suite "Jazz For Peace" for Abeat Records with guest soloist Fabrizio Bosso.
